Fake job posting for Cayman Island call center work

What Are They After

While you’re surfing the web and checking out all the updates on your favorite social media sites, a job offer pops up in your feed. It’s for a Cayman island call center position that pays an outrageous amount of money for only a few hours’ work each week. Best of all, this amazing job is located in the Cayman Islands!

Unfortunately, it’s fake. There’s no job, but there certainly is a job application for you to fill out, turning over all of your personal identifiable information to an identity thief.

How Can You Avoid It

  • Real jobs do not pay you lots of money to do nothing. It’s just a fact.
  • Real jobs also don’t require you to give them all of your information during the application process.
  • If you’re ever asked for your Social Security number while inquiring or applying, walk away; this company either doesn’t know how to guard your information, or worse, is out to scam you.

How much information are you putting out there? It’s probably too much. To help you stop sharing Too Much Information, sign up for the In the Loop.
